IT'S OVER!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] glinda_penguin and [livejournal.com profile] lullabymoon for volunteering their time to make hourly posts, thus letting me actually sleep this weekend. Thanks as well to everyone who participated in (and in some cases, even advertised!) this round.

This is the wrap-up post for Round 4. Here you can brag about what you wrote, and offer up any other comments or suggestions you may have.

There is also a poll:

[Poll #1509864]

(I will probably be at Radcon from the 12th to the 14th. If not, I will be too busy being depressed about missing Radcon to run a comm.) Anyone who is even considering being here for Round 5 is encouraged to vote.

So, despite all the unforeseen running around, this round of fic_rush has resulted in over 900 words of new fic from me - 60 words on the Ducky-meets-Janet piece, and 870 on the Illya dragfic. (And what's more important, I've made a good start on the chapter that's had me stalled for a month!)

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has written!

My final word count for round 4 is 546 words on my WIP -- not a lot, but I'm happy, especially considering how tremendously difficult it was to get back into writing this fic.

I'm looking forward to reading your Illya dragfic!

I got 4,722 words of fic down onto that alt!EOT thing. Who knows if this will ever been finished or not, but the productivity makes me happy. Thanks for hosting this. It was a lot of fun.

I failed, and failed hard. Didn't finish anything, didn't make any progress on anything I was supposed to be writing. I wrote ~900 words of Chloe/Sonia/Nick from Mercy, bumped a Chloe/Sonia WIP from 1300 to 2200 words, wrote about 300 words of set-up for a Kris/Adam fic, and gathered plans and notes I'd left scattered over various places. In my defense, my sister kept me away from my desk, which is the only place I can concentrate enough to write, for hours and hours, and after I went to bed last night I made some actual progress on a couple of ficlets that should be done by Wednesday, so. :)

I got 400 words of two WIP's done and managed a 200 word ficlet! I'm quite impressed, especially as it seems to have broken through my block.

Yeah, but you still managed to write more than most of us. I don;t think anyone finished much this round.

Squee! I totally want to read that one!

(I suspect I'd rather read your version than watch the actual eps... *g*)

You flatter me. The actual episodes have a sort of cracktastic charm all their own... (as well as giving any viewer a near critical dose of WTF-syrup)

I don't know if it'll get finished though. I'm not even finished the first act really, and there's still so much to get down. I've set myself rule with this as well: since I'm trying to fashion a better episode, I'm not allowed to cheat and use introspection, because you can't show that on television. As a result, I'm pretty sure it's going to end up being dry and boring as all get out.

If you don't mind my butting in, I think you're making things much harder for yourself than they need to be. True, there are things you can do in writing that you can't do on TV, like introspection, but there are also things you can do on TV that you can't do in writing, like show the expression on someone's face. You're stuck with the disadvantages of the medium you're using, so why not allow yourself to at least use the advantages? I wouldn't call that "cheating" at all.

It's a bit of a writing exercise for myself as well, just to see if I can do it. Odds are that I'll get frustrated half-way through and then spend the rest of the fic sitting inside the Master's head or something.
