My beloved Rushers, great blessings are on the horizon!

I'll distribute the poll about Round 99 soon, but after that Round 100 will be upon us! Not only will Round 100 be in Dec-ember, but 2019 marks 10 YEARS of Fic Rush! I for one think we should celebrate this momentous confluence of 10s in style. SO, if I may direct your attention to the below poll, please vote for how you think we should structure Round 100, and what we should call it. We'll vote on the actual dates closer to the time. (Remember you can vote for more than one thing!)

Also, I NEED YOUR HELP! In keeping with the spirit of this Round, I'd like to see if we can bring the whole crew together, including older members who have been carted off by penguins to RL responsibilities. We've decided to go with the 72-hour round, which means Fic Rush will commence 0H GMT Friday March 15 and end 24H GMT Sunday March 17! To see what that means for you, please consult the current time in GMT, the master hour lookup (see below for Friday hours), and the time zone converter. Please be aware that your country may have begun or ended Daylight Savings before the round! (Or if you happen to be in Troll Station, Antarctica, changes halfway through the round, good luck!)

Also, here's my ~~desperate plea~~ recruiting spiel for new (or old, we miss you!) mods and usurpers. Part of the magic of the Rush is the hourly check-in, and that is difficult with so few mods strewn about, especially a 72-hour round. So if you want to try your hand at usurping, we'd love to have you! Let us know in the comments a) if you'd like to make this a 72-hour round and b) if you'd like to mod, so we can give you posting access. If you're modding, please let us know roughly when you're available so we can maybe bring back anchor posts?

Round Fred begins this evening! Unless you're east of the GMT time zone, in which case it begins very early tomorrow morning.

I've drawn up a table of anchor posts across the time zones where I know we have current Mod Squad members. It shows the US under Daylight Savings Time and Europe under standard time, as they are at present, and won't be next month and we'll worry about that then.

Arizona is in with PDT.

Mods, please lay claim to anchor posts in the comments. Feel free to negotiate with/cajole/bribe one another if so inclined, just avoid bloodshed. The ones in blue are key, although it would be nice to have all anchors in place. I will engage to start and end the round.

Our first round in the new era will be Round 84, affectionately known as Fred. We will have the round on March 17th and 18th.

If you would like to mod, or at least have the option to usurp, please reply to this post, and join the

fic_rush_48 comm. I will make sure you have posting access. If you’re new to the comm, you might want to wait and just participate for a couple of rounds (although we have had people jump into Baby Mod status from start, so anything might happen).

I don’t have the energy to do a full modding schedule, but I don’t think we’ll need one. My intention is to have assigned anchor posts for the key hours (Hour 1, 6, 12, etc.), and open usurpation otherwise. That approach worked well before, and is a lot easier than drawing up and maintaining the schedule.

I’ve done a new master reference post for looking up GMT hours.

Looking forward to seeing everyone, or at least as many as possible!
