Fic Rush: the two-day ficathon

The comm has been imported, less the two posts just made about moving over here to DW. The 48 comm flooded me with messages about import failures, but it seems to have imported in spite of hiccups.

I have paid for this account, so we can have polls, because we MUST have polls.

I re-wrote the FAQ post and stickied it to this comm. Feel free to use that as a target link for pimpage.

People are beginning to join, including some new names amongst the old. On that line: hey, let's all say hi to each other! Please comment on this post, introduce yourself, maybe let us know some or all of the following:

Hello, my friends and fellow 'Rushers --

There was no October round because I more or less lost October: my wife's mother went into hospice care. She's been failing rapidly (dementia), so it was not a surprise, but it was unexpected. By the time I emerged, October was almost over. The funeral is this coming weekend.

And now, it's November, which means Nano, which means (I trust) that we need a round even more!

Well, um, so here we are, fic_rush is about to start, and my internets are all broke.  I think there are too many cats, or too few.

With luck, I will have internet access again some time tomorrow morning.  Until then, your Queen Mod is stranded on a desert island, or possibly locked up incommunicado.  Really, folks, that's taking the usurpation imperative a bit far, donchathink?

I had intended to declare this the Terry Pratchett Memorial Round (for those of you who have not yet read any Terry Pratchett and will have to remember things that haven't happened yet, don't worry, that works too).  So, in my absence, please carry on?

(And how am I posting this, some smartass is sure to say?  I'm still at work.  I do not plan to stay here all night.)

Round 45 will be the weekend of October 26th and 27th.  This is right after my birthday, therefore, there will be cake.  And poossibly pie.

Mod Squad, please let me know whether you'll be able to be there, and what your favourite kind of cake is.

I'm putting together the schedule for this weekend, and working out how much coverage we have for extended hours.  There's been definite interest in starting earlier on Friday, and even some interest (possibly even serious) in starting on Thursday.  We can definitely start as early as 2 pm GMT on Friday -- 9 am EST in the States.  And before that -- well, it's not as if we have to rent the internet by the hour, is it?

Moreover, we don't actually have to go the whole time without a break:  we can, effectively, turn on the lights as early in the weekend as anyone will actually want, and post as and when we can until we start to turn out in enough force to do hourly check-ins.

Kind of an Expansion Pack Rush.  Or an accordion.

So:  if you're interested in starting any earlier than 2 pm GMT on Friday, PM me!  Let me know when you think you might want to be around.  I will start the round pretty much whenever the first person wants to start, and I will extend posting privileges to anyone who's willing to make check-in posts starting Thursday.  However, you need to contact me ahead of time, so I can make the necessary changes in access.
