Date: 2015-04-12 02:46 am (UTC)Some of the daily image comms are still around, and some of the Who comms. There must be others, I suppose, since we're not actually the #1 comm on the ratings . . . I'm sure there are Sherlock and Avengers and whatnot as well.
But we are, of course, the BESTEST.

Date: 2015-04-13 01:21 am (UTC)It's just that I came back here, hoping some of the places where people used to have in-depth discussions about shows and fic would still be around. And they're not. Ficfinishing died ages ago, land comms are no longer a thing, the anonymous memes dried up sometime in 2011. Supposedly everyone left for Tumblr, but there is no such thing as a community discussion on Tumblr. The format doesn't allow it.
And dammit I need to talk about my fic!
People are still writing loads of fic. They must be going somewhere to discuss it, surely.
...Sorry about the rant. It's just that I spent half of yesterday doing nothing but looking at dozens of LiveJournal ghost towns. It was depressing.
It does make it even more impressive that you've kept fic_rush alive and kicking this whole time.

Date: 2015-04-13 01:48 am (UTC)I never got into Tumblr because of the absence of interaction; I'm more into the whole mutual communication thing, and not keen on passively consuming reblogged Stuff.
Do you know
I'm in something of a personal fandom slump myself at the moment, but my impression is that LJ overall is slowly growing again, as people wander back from Tumblr in search of actual conversations. In many cases, new comms have been started, especially when the mods of the old comms went and stayed AWOL -- so keep digging!
(And take a bow yourself -- you deserve a lot of the credit for fic_rush still being here! You built something really strong, and you were willing to hand it off.)

Date: 2015-04-14 01:38 am (UTC)Tumblr has its plusses and minuses. It seems like people mistook it for a newer, better LiveJournal, when it's a fundamentally different type of thing. But I got sucked into a tiny fandom that only exists in that one place. Let's hope you're right about people coming back to LJ. It really is a great format, all things considered.
Thanks for the pointers. I've started watching who_at_50. I do remember a couple of those people, and almost all the names in this post are familiar. (Hi guys!)
