Mod Squad update: Master Questions (no rubbish beards)

This is the annual update, even though it's been about a year and a half since the last time I did it. I'm not sure what planet I must be on, but obviously it has a different length of year.

If you are a mod, or have modded, or would like to mod, or just want to be well-modulated, please comment on this post and answer the following questions. Please give answers in your own time zone, or in GMT -- and tell me which you're using. Please ignore everyone else's schedule at this time: this is all about YOU. Because we're all special snowflakes. Except for Fred, who is a special hailstone.

Please reply even if you've told me this information before and nothing has changed. If I don't hear from you at all, I will take that to mean that you are no longer interested in modding and I'll cry. If you can't commit to a regular mod shift, but are interested in/willing to do occasional Stunt Mod shifts, please say so, but also answer the questions.

If you have never modded at all, or you've been an Emergency Stunt Mod, or a member of the Fic Rush Highly Irregulars, or a Master Usurper, or you modded in the past and took a break and would like to mod again, this is your chance! 1. Out of our usual 48 hours, what hours are you NOT EVER available to mod? (Due to sleeping, regular commitments, etc.)

2. Out of our usual 48 hours, what hours are the VERY VERY BEST for you to mod?

4. If your schedule is in mad flux, but you're interested anyway, what's your best guess?

5. Is there a minimum or maximum amount of time that you're comfortable modding?

6. Are you more comfortable with having a set, regular shift that's pretty much the same each weekend, or would you prefer a variable shift, or are you only interested in (or able to commit to) providing occasional emergency usurpation coverage?

7. Are you willing to mod for more than one shift in a 'Rush weekend? If so, can you do it regularly, occasionally, or only when suitably bribed in emergencies?

8. Is there anything else I should know about your life that has bearing on this? (for example: you're a student and your schedule goes through periodic reshuffling; you work on alternate weekends; you're moving to Antarctica and starting a new job on the night shift; you're getting married/having a baby/finding a cure for cancer/marrying a Cancer; you're a clone and can mod twice at the same time, unless you get into a fight with yourself)

1. Probably any time after 1 am is a bad bet, or before 10 AM. 5-6pm is right out because I have to drive home from work.

2. Saturday: 8-10PM, Sunday 10am - 12pm.

3. If 3 did not exist, it would be necessary to invent it.

4. The times above are a best guess.

5. Not really a hard limit, but no more than 4 hours total would be best.

6. My availability will probably vary over time.

7. I can do more than one shift if the shift is short.

9. I don't know! I would like a Pretentious Title to be chosen for me. If that can't be, I will try to come up with something.

4. Honestly, it's best if I give my availability for each specific weekend.

5. No minimum or maximum, although I'd prefer, say, two 3-hour shifts over one 6-hour shift. Split shifts (open the round for one hour, then come back later in the evening) have been working out great for me.

6. I kind of like variety.

7. In principle, yes. In practice, it depends on my schedule.

8. I might be entering a period of being more generally available on the weekends, but it's hard to know for sure right now.

1. Roughly midnight-8am, although I could sometimes do the first or last hour of that if needed.

2-4. There is no such thing as an ordinary weekend - I can be away in the wilds from Friday evening to Sunday evening, or have no commitments at all!

I'm most reliably available from about 9am-noon both days, but those tend to be quite lonely shifts, so an occasional afternoon or evening slot (if it was free and I was free) might be nice.

5. Probably max 2-3 hours at a time or 5-6 over the weekend.

6. I have to be variable, but generally don't mind doing something any weekend I'm around.

7. Two short shifts would sometimes be better than one long one. Extra time negotiable in emergencies.

1. Can't do saturdays because of work, can't do between the hours of midnight and 7am due to sleep.

4. I'd say 8/10 sundays are good. On the I'm usually only unavailable when I'm covering someone else or when it's a seasonal variation (Easter/Christmas)

5. I'm happy covering whatever though I may start to go bonkers the longer you leave me unsupervised with the comm (not that you'd notice though, it's only detectable from my usual levels of insanity using litmus paper or iodine)

6. I wouldn't object to having a regular slot but as long as it's doable, I'll be there, chilling with my glowsticks and passing around the writerly pasta.

7. I'm happy to handle more than one if you can fit me in.

8. The latter... it's not a fight, it's a debate be quiet, I'm trying to fill in a form.

1. I tend to be asleep for Hours 8-16 and Hours 31-40. Also, lately RL has been commandeering my nights on weekends, so a night shift is probably a bad idea unless usurping.

0: Mountain Standard Time (US Arizona).
1-2: Not applicable due to schedule in mad flux.
4: I've been waking up between 5am and 7am local time? So the few hours just before that are probably the least likely for me to be online at. Until my sleep schedule does something else interesting and weird. ;P
5: If I try to mod more than two hours in a row I get really zonked and kind of stressed out; three hours in a row is my absolute max.
6: Emergency usurpation stunt mod standing by! (...God, I miss Sid. :P)
7: Very, very occasionally, and bribery is much appreciated. ^_^
8: I'm moving in late December / early January, because OMG GRADUATING :D, but I haven't decided where to yet. (I kinda want to go back to DC because I have meatspace-and-internet hybrid friends there, but the cost of living is terrifying. o_O)
9: I forget what my final Pretentious Title was, or whether I even made a final determination on that front. Didn't it involve rainbows and fairies or something?

1.Not able to work on Friday thru about 10 am Saturday. Inconceivable to be awake and responsible before that.
2.Saturday afternoons are sweet. Could do Sunday morn or late Sat, too.

5.4 hour shifts are comfortably managable for my limited attention span.
6.I like predictable shifts, but I can be flexible with the help of handsome, skantily-clad personal trainers :D

1. Friday start time to Saturday 4pm (due to seeing husband at end of work week, sleep, and working on Saturday mornings)

7. Talk to me about being suitably bribed in emergencies... (But note that Friday evening (EST) is "date night" with husband, and Saturday mornings (EST) from 8am to 1pm I'm at work...

8. Nope. Pretty much my life is normal except that it's subject to drastic change at a moment's notice. (That's not actually true. If my life/schedule changed drastically, I'd probably be able to give you at least 2 weeks notice).

1) Generally asleep from 12am to 6am. On Saturdays (currently), I am made to work slavish hours 7am to 4pm. I am working to get this changed. I will definitely keep you apprised!

2) Fridays til midnight. Saturdays, 6pm to midnight - Sundays...free-for-all.

3) There usually isn't. 3 is often a substitute for 42. Which only exists on certain planes anyway and is often confused as an answer for Life, the Universe (such as we believe there to be such a thing) and Everything (which is again, a state of reality only comprehesible to tax accountants, computer programmers and the guys who wash windows).

4) Same as #2. Or the number before the non-existent one. Which is disguised as a '3'. Pfft.

5) I love coffee...so you can take a pop guess from that.

6) I like a regular shift. Helps me stay out of fights with pirates and what-not if I have a schedule. Otherwise I get into duels, chores and other such time consuming other-worldly things and get lost. Even if it is just the one time. Such things stick with one.

7) Definitely!! I have always loved modding a couple of shifts.

8) I was planning on getting a clone, but I only have one laptop. So that nixed that idea. Other than that, no real life-altering plans. I'm married to a Scorpio, so hopefully that doesn't count against me. O_O

9) I already have one of those (and love it), but if you are taking requests, I want a pony, a chocolate bar and a TARDIS. I know the pony is out and chocolate is a luxury, so barring those options, I want my TARDIS to be a Type 40 Mark II with a malfunctioning chamelon circuit. Preferably used.

BTW. I prefer Pirate dress. With ninja leanings *sniff*

1. Hard to say since I have no regular schedule whatsoever. Anything between 3AM and 10AM my time is potential bedtime. Or not …

2. I rarely ever nap around 11AM-1PM and 7PM-11PM my time, on any day.

5. In the afternoon/evening hours, I can easily do whatever amount of time. In the morning/at night, I could mayhaps do two hours.

7. Yes, and I should be able to do it regularly. Of course, I'd never deny a suitable bribe =D

8. It could be I get a job on short notice (I'm a freelance artist with a focus on film), but that's rather rare lately. However, it could happen, and that would mean I'd have to go. (I think it happened last in March, and it wasn't on a weekend.)

I'm usually competent at LJ, really, but I live in a Very Rural Area and our Internet connection has been shaky this week (it's usually fine, it just acts up occasionally for no apparent reason), so in my haste to actually get my answers posted during a brief window of connectivity, I hit the wrong button.

8. I've just finished my course, and I don't have a job yet so I'm really not sure how my schedule will change but at the moment every weekend is free (and ideally they will stay that way)

Trying to remember the Pretentious Title details . . . you had identified five or six components that you liked, and needed to choose three at the most and assemble them somehow. I think Rainbow Ninja Pirate was one of the better options we'd bounced around, or maybe it was Glitter Pirate Ninja. Any of that ring a bell?

How does Rainbow Godpirate sound? I can't decide if the "godpirate" bit is a self-explanatory enough nod to "godparent", especially without "fairy" in front of it, or if it sounds like I'm somehow pirating deities from somewhere. (Or claiming to be a pirate deity. Or whether either of those is a bad thing. ^_^ Well, I guess pirating deities would be bad if it was cultural appropriation...)

Edit: Another option I like is if it was Rainbow Ninja Pirate but instead of being in a specific order the order was different every time. Like I might be a Pirate Rainbow Ninja one round and a Ninja Pirate Rainbow the next. What do you think? :-)

Rainbow Godpirate definitely makes me think of a pirate-style godparent, as opposed to someone trying to be the god of the pirates. I think a godpirate beats a godparent hands down (or hooks down, perhaps).

I really can't think of any. I don't have a regular sleep schedule or work schedule.

Assuming I'm free the whole weekend and that I didn't get home too late on Fri night (which happens maybe once a month or less), Hours 3-6, 11-18, 35-40. Possibly 6-11 too.

Uh, hours 35-40? I'm reasonably sure I'm always home at this time (7pm-midnight my time), since I've got work early on Mon.

Willing to do multiple shifts if I get the weekend off!

I'm a researcher, so my work schedule is completely unpredictable - I work anywhere from 9 to 14 hours on a weekday and if something goes wrong during the week I have to go back during the weekend. So I can't commit to a regular shift, but if I manage to wrangle either Sat or Sun off, I'm going to spend it writing so fic rush weekend is just extra incentive.
