Round 84, affectionately known as Fred (but never as Freddy), is over!

Tell us what wonderful things you accomplished this weekend! I saw a lot of lovely new members and lovely, well, not necessarily old, let's say veteran members, and much much wordage and other accomplishments! Now's your chance to boast of your prowess.

Please also take a chance to thank our lovely and tireless Mod Squad, who kept the hourly posts going. We did not drop ONE SINGLE HOUR in this round! (Some of them wobbled a bit, but hey, nothing cracked.)

Your mods were:

[personal profile] juliet316, the Pinstriped Fish Defender, who won this month's crown as Champion Usurper with TWELVE posts
[personal profile] dbskyler, the Slayer of Alien Fish
[personal profile] justice_turtle, the Ninja Pirate Prince/ss
[personal profile] thisbluespirit, the Bringer of Penguins
[personal profile] glinda, the Supreme Tea Temptress
[personal profile] idlewild, the Grand Vizier of Coffee
[personal profile] agirlnamedtruth, the Supreme Temporal Wrangler
[personal profile] lullabymoon, known as Dances-With-Nemeses*
and myself, [personal profile] lolmac (Beth), known as Queen Mod.

Please give a very special an fervent shout-out to [personal profile] justice_turtle, whose tireless enthusiasm coaxed the 'Rush back into life again. TURTLE ROCKS!!

Many happy thanks to everyone who participated. Please keep an eye on this comm and watch for a new poll to choose a weekend for an April round. I think it's clear that the Rush is back with a mighty roar, and we have plenty more good rounds ahead!

*(even if the Nemesis is no longer there in the house, you can still dance, right?)

Tempting as it is to just drop that gif and run, I will stay long enough to thank the mods, you guys did an amazing job, WE HAD A POST FOR EVERY HOUR GUYS! That never happened on the rounds with schedules, let alone free-range fic rush. I personally am loving the new usurption based format and hope it stays. Less pressure to remember what you're doing (a problem I seemed to have more than most, oops) and more chance to go with the flow and have some fun seeing who was going to post next.

Personally, I got 1566 words down. No lemons as such (I'm trying to bring that term back) but it is build up to lemony-lemoness. I got involved in two fandom things, I signed up for a prompt table and I submitted some noms for an exchange, which probably means I'll sign up for that too. I had some really good, distracting food. I had a blast with you guys!

I give Fred five stars, would rush again <3

It passed me by too when it was a popular term but, sort of like Fred, I’m growing rather fond of it. It seems random yet at the same time, memorable and distinctive. Plus it makes me want a glass of lemonade every time I say it and I love lemonade ^^

ETA: if you want snow, dude in icon, the Arctic is definetly the wrong place to look. It’s all on top of my car o.O

So good to see this back :)

I signed up for a ficathon, got 2,104 words done for the WIP over the course of the weekend, and read a lot of very amusing comments. So, good, then. Kudos to the mods (and usurpers) for filling all of the hours.

Hello All! It was lovely rushing with all of you. I was mostly editing. I had a two part article on photographing abandoned places to get ready to put out. I went through my old fic projects spread out among many journals and, as expected, tossed most of them. I have a tidy pile of what pages I did keep. My desk is cleaner and I no longer have that mess taunting me.

I also edited one fic that I will post soonish.

Not much writing, but progress.

I look forward to future rushes.

I read the first part of your article (found the link through [community profile] photographyon - which I've been lurking about), and it's a very lovely article. Can't wait to see part two. :-)

Thank you! Part 2 is also done and should be scheduled soon. (Unlike part 2 of my Long Exposure feature, which may be a while.)

Got 1,163 words written, which is a nice kick in the right direction! I'm glad the community is back and that [personal profile] justice_turtle reminded me of its existence!

I also got a lot of my WIPs sorted into "I can finish these easily", "These have a long way to go but have a lot of potential" and "What the heck was I on (but I'll still keep them for later)", so I actually have a siege plan, which might help.

Or I might get distracted by scientific articles on lobsters. Either or. xD

Yay, sorted WIPs! ...ooh, lobsters. New developments in Wraith culture and physiology? :-)

Sorted WIPs! For as long as it lasts, anyway, given the speed at which I come up with new WIPs. Some of my WIPs have WIP sequels.

Lobsters! They’re sea bugs! xD Actually, they’re arthropods, which makes them a cousin of insects rather than actual insects (though informally, bug is used for pretty much all invertebrates). They’re relevant to my interests because they’re sort of immortal, giving an actual scientific base to a lot of Wraith traits that canon sort of handwaved. See, there’s this thing called telomeres, which is a strand of DNA on the end of our chromosomes. In most vertebrates, these shorten over time because we lack the ability of fully replicate DNA strands. Lobsters, however, have an enzyme called telomerase which helps them elongate their DNA strands over time, keeping them from actually aging the way we do.

And if that can exist in real life, it can certainly exist in a species as biologically implausible as the Wraith. xD

(It also explains how the rapid aging happens when they feed; something in the enzyme they release during feeding has the opposite effect and break down the telomeres, causing rapid aging.)

Science is fun! xD And also, lobsters don’t age, they merely grow. Which sounds ominous, but thankfully they can’t grow over a certain size because their system can only sustain so much.

(Sorry for the science ramble. I get enthusiastic when I can base head canon in science. xD)

Oh my, thank you, thank you! *holds tiara with one hand and does beauty pageant wave with the other.

Not much on the creativity front this rush, but it was a fun round and I'm very very happy that it's back and it's on Dreamwidth! Here's to many more rounds!

Thank you for running this, for the prompting every hour, and the responses to comments on the comm!

I finished a fic that's been two years in the writing, so I'm definitely happy and looking to come back in April!

I love this com. I am new and this month was filled with RL but I still managed a few drabbles and add chunks to my big bangs. I look forward to next month.

I had a great time! I cleared out a chunk of my inbox, wrote and posted a pair of drabbles, crossposted some stuff to AO3 from my old archive, and got over a thousand words into an exchange fic due next month. I also started digging in my WiP folder that I've not touched in ages. (And did some housework and errands, too!)

I got words! And not nearly enough sleep, and also we filled up all the liquids in my car that were low. Someday I will sleep again. ;P Not tomorrow though, I have jury duty.

Hurrah! Thanks for bringing it back! I was around a little more than I'd feared and did at least write some words, too.

I look forward to next month - it really is wonderful to have it back. I hadn't realised how much I'd missed it.

This was fun - thanks, mods! I edited a chapter and posted it, and I wrote almost the entirety of the next chapter, which is awesome. Good progress!
