Round 1 Feedback and Bragging Post
Sun, Jun. 14th, 2009 04:38 pmSeven people wrote during the first fic_rush. Thanks, guys! This is your place to brag about how much you got written this weekend.
I also direct you to the Fic Gallery, where I can list your stuff when it's done and posted. Otherwise, that post will remain a propaganda piece for the arbitrarabble movement and Doctor/TARDIS shipping. :D
And feedback, open to you guys, and also anyone else who sees this and might participate in future rounds. The hourly post format: good/bad? When's the best time to hold a Round 2? What worked? What didn't?

Date: 2009-06-15 12:23 am (UTC)I think the hourly post format is a good one. Things got slow when it was late night in the U.S. and early morning in Europe, but I think that if you tried to set certain specific times for checking in, it would just get confusing with all the different time zones. Once I figured out how midnight GMT translated into my local time, I always knew when it was time for the next post, and that was really convenient. Of course, you mods may prefer to not have to stay up really late on the off-chance that someone joins in, which I would fully understand. If that's the case, then I think it would also work to have a generic post for the low-traffic hours where people who did happen to be up and working could share their progress, but it wasn't expected that they would get replies from a mod. Other than that I would definitely keep the once-per-hour format if you can.
Truthfully, I can't think of a single thing that didn't work. The atmosphere was very supportive and also very low-pressure, with no guilt for when you had to sign out to go do other things. I hope to see this catch on so more people participate in the future, but the group we had was great as it was. As for when to do it again -- kind of up to you guys, I think, but I'd say you don't want to do it too often or it loses its specialness. Maybe it should be a quarterly event, held every three months? Or longer . . . yeah, really don't have a strong opinion here.
Official fic_rush word count: 2,184 words!!!! Wow, I had to doublecheck that, because it doesn't seem possible -- I didn't write the whole time, and I had several nonproductive hours -- but yes, the overall count is correct! So I'd say it was a very successful experience as well as a very enjoyable one. Thank you so much, and I will definitely plan on doing this again!
