Master Modding Questions: Annual Update
Tue, Mar. 4th, 2014 10:11 pmThe time has come, the Walrus said, to talk of modding schedules. Specifically, it's time for me to update the Master Modding Schedule and ask you talk of many things involving time zones and availability.
If you are a mod, or have modded, or would like to mod, or just want to be well-modulated, please comment on this post and answer the following questions. Please give answers in your own time zone, or in GMT -- and tell me which you're using. Please ignore everyone else's schedule at this time: this is all about YOU. Because we're all special snowflakes. Except for Fred, who is a special hailstone.
Please reply even if you've told me this information before and nothing has changed. If I don't hear from you at all, I will take that to mean that you are no longer interested in modding and I'll cry. If you can't commit to a regular mod shift, but are interested in/willing to do occasional Stunt Mod shifts, please say so, but also answer the questions.
If you have never modded at all, or you've been an Emergency Stunt Mod, or a member of the Fic Rush Highly Irregulars, or a Master Usurper, or you modded in the past and took a break and would like to mod again, this is your chance! Crack a glowstick! Set off fireworks!
1. Out of our usual 48 hours, what hours are you NOT EVER available to mod? (Due to sleeping, regular commitments, etc.)
2. Out of our usual 48 hours, what hours are the VERY VERY BEST for you to mod?
3. There is no number 3.
4. If your schedule is in mad flux, but you're interested anyway, what's your best guess?
5. Are you more comfortable with having a set, regular shift that's pretty much the same each weekend, or would you prefer a variable shift, or are you only interested in (or able to commit to) providing occasional emergencyusurpation coverage?
6. Is there a minimum or maximum amount of time that you're comfortable modding?
7. Are you willing to mod for more than one shift in a 'Rush weekend? If so, can you do it regularly, occasionally, or onlywhen suitably bribed in emergencies?
8. Is there anything else I should know about your life that has bearing on this? (for example: you're a student and your schedule goes through periodic reshuffling; you work on alternate weekends; you're moving to Antarctica and starting a new job on the night shift; you're getting married/having a baby/finding a cure for cancer/marrying a Cancer; you're a clone and can mod twice at the same time, unless you get into a fight with yourself)
9. VERY IMPORTANT: What time zone are you in?

Date: 2014-03-05 09:06 am (UTC)2. With work taken into account, 7am GMT to 10am GMT I should *always* be able to do, no matter what end of the day it is for me - I'll either be getting up or pottering about before bed.
3. Number 3 is a lie?
4. Always good for 7am-10am GMT, if I'm not at work then in theory I can do all night 7pm to 7am and if I really am in a mad flux, I might be able to do daylight hours.
5. I'm easy, it's really up to you and if you can handle the stress of my insane scheduling issues with work. A fixed 7am-10am slot would be cool but that's the only time I could do fixed. Variable is also cool as long as it can be in my usual will she/won't she fashion. And if you have enough people to cover and don't want to worry about where to stick me, I'm cool with taking on the honour of being a
Odobenus RosmarusUsurper or an Emergency StuntWalrusMod.6. If it's 7am-10am, three hours in a row max. though I could do 3 hours on one day and three on the other. If I'm not working, I can run for as many hours needed (let's cap it at 12 so you all don't stick me with the whole round and emigrate to Tahiti).
7. See previous answer because apparently I'm psychic. Also, if you were to pay me £9.03 an hour, I could be bribed into calling in to work claiming I'd contracted Fic Rush.
8. I work nights, 3 nights a week on a "flexible" basis. Sadly that doesn't make me a gymnast, it means that I don't know my days until they put up the schedule. Which annoyingly they tend to leave it until the last minute before putting up 3 weeks at once. And on top of that, my sleeping pattern gets way messed up when I have to do things like food shopping during the day (but that I can plan around fic rush) - so basically, I might be a while in knowing if I'm working or not but if I'm not working, I'm pretty easy and once I can commit to those hours, I can do them - I just might be a little bleary eyed or have to set an alarm or something.
9. GMT, which being a walrus stands for "Got Mighty Tusks" not Greenwich Mean Time. I know that's really confusing and we've had meetings about it but changing it got a vote of no flippers and so it is what it is. Luckily though, it's exactly the same as Greenwich Mean Time, if that helps at all...
