Round 56 has ended!

This was a very quiet round, although we had at least one fine new face, and some writing and icons and projects accomplished.

The slow pace is mostly due to my own sluggishness:  I have not been doing well at getting polls up early, and this month was especially bad.  I'm incredibly delighted to announce that we now have a Master Pollmeister, sara_lakali, who will be posting the polls for the new rounds.  I will still be making the final decisions on the weekend and doing the schedules, and with her help I'm looking forward to being less tardy for future rounds!  Yay sara_lakali!!

I didn't actually make much progress in writing, but I did conquer the galaxy, save the whales, find the cure for cancer, and bake cookies. Also laundry.

All told, I managed 5200 words of a fic this weekend, though it's not finished yet (and to think, I used to have a hard time hitting 2000 words). And hell, considering I've been getting sick since Friday, that's a lot more of anything than I expected to accomplish.

I had a lot of fun participating, and probably wrote more in two days than I have in the last year. Thanks for running such a cool challenge!

I don't even need an excuse. I SPENT THE ENTIRE WEEKEND DRIVING AFGHAN PEOPLE TO SHOPPINGS. All of it. We just got home from today's bout. Tomorrow I get to drive the guy (there is a mom, a dad, and a toddler - they live with me and my aunt now) to the DMV and then let him use my car to take a driving test.

I mean, they're nice folks, but the ridiculously long commutes to my college campuses are usually my "me time", and I'm pretty sure I haven't driven anywhere alone this entire week. And my aunt's leaving for California early tomorrow morning, so... yeah. :P

(Also I can't find my iPod. That's not relevant to fic_rush except as to the time I figured it out.)

Also, more cheerfully, I did actually manage to sew most of a skirt - the two side seams and half the waistband so far - and the shopping I did today involved buying skirt-waistband elastic for me as well as going to a fuckton of stores to find divers(e) things such as magnetic alphabet letters and basmati rice. (Not, I mean, magnetic basmati rice. ;P I AM SO TIRED.)

YAY new faces and accomplishments galore!! Big thanks to new Pollmeister and all Usurpers!!

I did a lot of writing on posts and comments. In between times, I saved two star systems, ran a household, over-threw two plans for world domination, entertained friends, daydreamed about writing fiction before solving world domination problems by dominating said world myself. Also founded the perfect fried-egg-n-bacon-on-buttered-toast sandwich.

Rather a lot more got done than I aimed for, so maybe I can rest up this week.

Nah.

I was mostly shanghaied by a very cute two year old for a lot of the weekend. Still I got some writing done, and some drywall work. Then I ended up working for my neighbor for two hours tonight cleaning his house.

This is what happens when you have a split screen on the monitor, and a two year old watching a Winnie the Pooh cartoon on your lap while you're trying to write a Stargate Universe story.

You start imagining the Stargate Universe characters as Winnie the Pooh ones.

Got some iconning done before my PSP, computer and Internet started acting up, and did a few usurpations throughout the weekend (even if the math was frelled up), not too bad of a weekend.
