Round 7 is over. Here you can brag about all the stuff you wrote. Huzzah!

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] pitry, [livejournal.com profile] lullabymoon, and [livejournal.com profile] dbskyler for running the comm overnight. <3

As for Round 8, before I put a poll up I want to ask you guys if you'd rather keep polling for the best weekend, or just pick something like "the last weekend of the month" or somesuch and stick with that.

It's more work for you, but I prefer the poll. So far my conflicts haven't been things that I can change, so it's not like I'd be able to say "always keep the last weekend of the month free for fic_rush." With the poll, I'm able to vote for the weekends that are best for me.

p.s. -- my official word count for the round is only 522 words, but 368 of that is a finished ficlet, plus I did manage to push some progress on my WIP, so I'm happy.

I have to go with the poll as well... I know it's more work. :( But like [livejournal.com profile] dbskyler said, it's more reliable than setting a regular weekend.

It;s been loads of fun though! Thanks very much for setting this up again! :D

As for what I did.... let's see. 2,129 words on the Famous Five fic. They're still in the cave; 1,045 words of Jerusalem: Alternate Realities Are No Excuse (and a re-arranging and re-setting the whole fic on the way, as in keeping the fic but changing the premise! eek); 416 words on what is possibly called "Almost Like Saying Hello" but I'm not quite sure yet, continuing a different fic I wrote; and 626 words on Jo & Three. Who are still waiting to be rescued from the Daleks.

Now I need to... finish all of these. And the other WIPs I haven't touched for a while cos planning these was shiny. Sigh.

Thanks so much for this, great to have a kick in the pants to get going sometimes. I didn't finish anything, but I did outline a bunny for later on and wrote 3,149 words on my Onefic, which was very hopefuland certainly waaay better than last time which I spent mostly going in a circle. Enjoyed the chatter as well, great idea for a comm.

Polling is good, I concur - things vary too much month to month to say one weekend will always work.

I suppose you could set up a poll over whether to have a poll, but I'm voting for a poll anyway, with the same observation that it's more work for you but very very valuable. Pls? *puppy-dog eyes*

As for me -- I peeked in on the posts a lot, but utterly failed to write anything. Last weekend, I finished and posted chapter 11 of my current novel (the chapter that got mostly written during Round 6). That chapter wound up about 40,000 words of plot, and now I have to tackle the resolution of the framing story. To do this, I have to re-read the whole thing, and get my mind back into the right space for the framing story, which has been waiting on the sidelines since last fall.

So I've been thinking a lot, but haven't written a single damned word. I had high hopes for today, but got sidetracked in a bad way in the morning.

I did wrap up a major piece of editing this afternoon -- a 5,000 word piece written by somebody else. Written very well, too.

And another friend of mine is trying to give me a smut bunny. She may succeed.

I don't mind how you handle the times, except that a poll makes it much more likely for more people to be able to participate at the given time.

But anyway, YAYS FIC_RUSH. I went from 818 words to 1177 words of mostly-unrough-draft Eleventh Doctor fic, which is now being betaed while I tear my hair some more over characterization. ^^ But it's probably finished enough to tweak slightly and post tomorrow. Thanks for providing a space to write in!

I make it about 3700, which is good, but considering I should have had much more time than usual, I'm not that impressed with myself! I suppose a BT man did turn up at the wrong moment on Saturday, but I was distracted by things, Icons mainly... But one WIP pretty much finished, which is great - and it's lovely to meet up with everyone.

I'm not really bothered about a poll or not, but everyone else seems to want one. :-D

Thanks for running it.

I also prefer polling for a good weekend; my life is not boring structured enough that the same weekend would work each month.

My productivity this round: 177 words of setup for a Three/Jo cuddlefluff; notes on Ducky's knitting for a possible NCIS Christmas ficlet; the beginnings of a reaction post for "The Beast Below"; and talked to the cute guy I hadn't managed to see in three months. =D Not too bad.

I'm with everyone else, I'd rather have a poll.

I think I wrote over 1000 words this weekend (some is on paper so I've not done a proper word count) and I met what I set out to do: intro scene in a Pike/One PWP, more of my tardis big bang plus a couple of other odds and ends that got finished. I'm actually quite chuffed. :D

Hi! *waves*

Just found this community today. Looks like fun; I think I'll drop in next round if my schedule works out. :D

But, if you're accepting my vote for poll vs. fixed date, I'd say keep to a fixed date, but keep the poll in case a lot of people can't do it that particular weekend.
