For Round 69, the

sidlj Appreciation Memorial Round, I will declare the round open as of 10 am EST Friday, aka 3 pm GMT, aka Hour -9. The Period of Ye Negative Numbers Shall Be an Orgie of Free-For-All Usurpation, because what better way to start Round 69?

ylla, I think you and I had discussed your Pretentious Title, but I can't recall it now. Or maybe we didn't. Anyway, what will suit you?

Round 68 will be October 24th and 25th. Which will be exciting! On Saturday I will be on the last leg back from a two-week trip, and in a fit of multitasking, I will also be turning 55 that day. Clearly, there must be cake.

Time to tick the boxes! I have not included the 10th and 11th, because I'm going to be traveling that weekend. (I'm actually going to be on the road from the 10th through the 24th, but I'm pretty sure I can contrive well enough to manage the other weekends if necessary.)

I'm currently working on a new Mod Squad schedule. Sing out if you're able to mod this weekend! Especially if you're one of those who's just offered to join. Have I mentioned how much I love you all?

This is the annual update, even though it's been about a year and a half since the last time I did it. I'm not sure what planet I must be on, but obviously it has a different length of year.

If you are a mod, or have modded, or would like to mod, or just want to be well-modulated, please comment on this post and answer the following questions. Please give answers in your own time zone, or in GMT -- and tell me which you're using. Please ignore everyone else's schedule at this time: this is all about YOU. Because we're all special snowflakes. Except for Fred, who is a special hailstone.

Please reply even if you've told me this information before and nothing has changed. If I don't hear from you at all, I will take that to mean that you are no longer interested in modding and I'll cry. If you can't commit to a regular mod shift, but are interested in/willing to do occasional Stunt Mod shifts, please say so, but also answer the questions.

If you have never modded at all, or you've been an Emergency Stunt Mod, or a member of the Fic Rush Highly Irregulars, or a Master Usurper, or you modded in the past and took a break and would like to mod again, this is your chance! Crack a glowstick! Set off fireworks! Dress up as a ninja! Remember, mods get ~~fame~~ ~~glory~~ ~~fat wads of cash~~ Pretentious Titles!

At the end of our last exciting episode, we had a really clear consensus that we wanted to take August off and have a round in September, a less clear possibilty of taking October off, a definite certainty that we want to do rounds in November and December, and a truly gratifying unanimity that we like this comm and want to keep it going. Thank you, so much, especially for that last. It truly brightened my summer, which has been something of a slog!

That said, it's time to pick our next weekend . . .

So, this is not actually a poll to choose dates for an August round, not yet.

Over the last several months, I think a lot of us have been distracted, or having Stuff happen, or being tired or burned out. LJ is less active than it was some years ago, which of course also factors in; but, for all the many reasons, the last several rounds have tended to be on the quiet side.

However, I don't want to give up and stop doing rounds, even though I've been slacking a lot myself.

So: let's have some more polls! (Almost as good as penguins.) What do you think of holding rounds on alternate months? A terrible idea? A good idea? Worth trying for a bit?

If we go to alternate months, we would skip August and do a round in September, then skip October and do a round in November (for NaNo, as well as for Non-NaNo). We can then decide if we like that schedule, or if we're feeling more inklish and writerly and need our penguin fixes.

This poll is not a ticky box poll, because you're actually going to have to choose just one option. However, I have made sure there are ticky boxes anyway, because ticky boxes are Important.

And so we bid farewell to Round 66. But as long as we remember it, it shall stay forever in our memories. Because, you know, we remember it.
