yuletide is the biggest(?) winter gift-fanfic exchange. The deadline's on the 20th, at 8pm US Eastern time - less than ten days from now.

ETA: I'm not available to mod. As Beth knows, but ftr. The entirety of that weekend has a large RL-in-gargoyle-form sitting on it and getting ready to eat me. ;-)

It's from a very long, somewhat political joke... let me see if I can find it, it was originally an e-mail forward. I'll PM it to you if I can hunt it up.

ETA: Pfft, I can't find it. I must have deleted it. It was supposed to be all these different historico-political figures' reactions to the "Why did the chicken cross the road?" joke. It was really funny, too. :P

It gets tweaked at irregular intervals, of course, by people with varying degrees of actual wit. You can usually get the equivalent of a datestamp based on the year Bill Gates gives for his announcement of eChicken (I've seen it ranging from 1998 to 2011). The Martin Luther King quote has proved to have much better 'legs' than the others -- not surprisingly.
