It's time, based on my entirely obscure Gaxian almanac, for me to update the Master Modding Schedule and ask Many Nosy Questions about time zones and availability.

If you are a mod, or have modded, or would like to mod, or believe it's a mod mod mod mod world, please answer the following questions.  You can give answers in your own time zone, or in GMT -- just tell me which you're using.  Please ignore everyone else's schedule at this time:  this is all about YOU.

Also, even if you've told me this information before, please reply.  If I don't hear from you at all, I will probably assume you are no longer interested in modding.

- Out of our usual 48 hours, what hours are you NOT EVER available to mod?  (Due to sleeping, regular commitments, etc.)

- Out of our usual 48 hours, what hours are the VERY VERY BEST for you to mod?

- If your schedule is in mad flux, but you're interested anyway, what's your best guess?

- Are you more comfortable with having a set, regular shift that's pretty much the same each weekend, or are you happier with a variable shift, or are you only interested in (or able to commit to) providing occasional emergency coverage?

- Is there a minimum or maximum amount of time that you're comfortable modding?

- Is there anything else I should know about your life that has bearing on this?  (for example:  you're a student and your schedule goes through periodic reshuffling; you're about to move to Australia and start a new job on the night shift; you're an alien with three months left of your holiday here, after which there will be a serious time lag on your internet connection due to relativistic time compression)

- For extra credit, use 'penguin' in a sentence.  Creativity counts.

I just started a new job on Monday (Yay! Though sadly my job is not the bathing and feeding of penguins!) so for the next month and a half I will be available on weekends and on Friday evenings (I'm in Mountain Time). After that I will get assigned a shift schedule with alternating weekends, so my availability on weekends will depend on which weekend it is.

Currently I really like having a few hours on Friday evenings as that is the time I can almost always guarantee that I will be at my computer. I won't be working later on than 7 PM on Friday's regardless of what shift I wind up with, so maybe at that point, if I do wind up moving to that schedule, I could do 8PM to 11Pm on Friday nights (mountain time). (Though for this upcoming round, 7-10 would be better, and if I keep an earlier shift at work I'd like to keep that).

Sunday late-mornings I can do if you need me, if not, I can't always determine ahead of time if I will be home or not, as my family tends to go: "Let's go (blank)!" at the last minute.

I can't do in the night here (midnight to around 8 am), and Saturdays are pretty iffy for me so I tend not to sign up to mod them.

If you need an emergency mod that isn't durng those sleeping hours, feel free to pm me and I will respond if I am around.

I really enjoy my 4-ish to 8-ish Saturday evening shifts (Central Penguin zone). Conceivably, I could make myself available as early as noon on Saturdays.

Fridays are no good- I have a regular date. Sundays are a big, vague, unscheduled mess.

I can't answer your crazy, insane questions!!! What, do you imagine I have some sort of "schedule" that I "keep"???

I'm in the Central U.S. time zone, and there aren't any regular commitments to interfere with my weekend availability. My sleep schedule can fluctuate wildly due to occasional bouts of insomnia. There ain't no predicting what my body might be up to on a hypothetical rush weekend! Although hopefully it wouldn't be morphing into a penguin.

Typically though, I could be considered unavailable from about 1 am to 10 am CT. But if you needed someone at 7 am, I could haul myself out of bed. Or stay up an hour or two later.

I can't think of any Very Very Best hours. I'd be comfortable with a variable schedule (I imagine.)

What did I do, like eight hours straight in the pre-rush last month? That was a lot, but it wasn't awful. I would do it again in a pinch. A Really Big pinch. ;-)

Say, if Daniel and Jack were to pinch you on each cheek?

Only if they followed up with some nice h/c. *drifts into fantasy*

1. Ummmm I'm going to do this in hourly allotments from fic rush time cause that way it won't make me confused (or hopefully you):D So about hour 11 to hour 20 and hour 34ish til hour 41 cause I'm normally asleep :D

2. Anytime I'm not asleep :D No, really, whenever I'm not asleep. I love my hours, I do, but they get lonely sometimes.... I don't know what you're going to do about that cause I know I'm the best mod for those hours cause I'm awake. I just figured I'd throw it out there :D

3. I'm fine having a set time :D I quite like having a set time. It tells me when to be here :D And as you know, or you should :D, I'm more than happy to emergency mod if necessary :D

4. I'm happy modding anywhere from 3 to 6 hours at a time. Obviously it doesn't matter to me. It nice on weekends when I under 10 hours though. And of course I'm fine doing a shift on both days :D

5. The penguins like to chew into my internet time so sometimes I have lag issues :D But I don't think there's anything in the future that needs acknowledges. Although I am thinking of moving but that had more to do with work than with fic and not leaving Australia :D Though I do like the reference to others moving here :D

Sorry if there are any mistakes. I tend to make mistakes :D

I will give all of my answers in Pacific Time, because if I try to convert to GMT, my chances of getting it right are the same as the chances of an alien fish in a colony of ninja penguins.

Hours I am not ever available to mod: Between midnight and 10 a.m. (sleep!) Also, as a temporary situation that doesn't apply to this weekend but will apply to every weekend in January, I am not available until after 4 p.m. on Saturdays. But then I will be back to my usual madcap penguin availability in February.

Best hours to mod: Every weekend seems to be a little different, but in general, all penguins being equal, I like modding Saturday afternoons the best.

Regular vs. variable shift: My weekends always seem to change anyway, so I get a variable shift by default, but that's fine. I don't give much of a penguin about it either way.

Minimum or maximum time: I kind of like the shorter shifts (3-4 hours) but I know you usually need more coverage than that. Given the penguin choice, I'd rather do one longer shift than two shorter shifts.

Have penguin fun with the penguin Master Modding Schedule, hope it's not too penguin difficult to put this penguin all together, and penguin thanks for all your penguin work!

I have extremely little idea at this time when I will or will not be available to mod after New Penguin's. (I'll probably have better data by the time the January poll goes up.) At a wild guess... maybe somewhere in the noon-6pm EST range would be best? At least I will be having some free time for a while now. ;-)

Variable shifts preferred. Length: no more than 3 hours per shift, please, but I could probably do either 1 or 2 shifts per round if wanted.

My answers are in penguin time. It's like Pacific, only with penguins instead of... well, pacific.

1. Out of our usual 48 hours, what hours are you NOT EVER available to mod? (Due to sleeping, regular commitments, etc.)

I'd say between 1 a.m. to, er, 10 a.m, shall we say... on both Saturdays and Sundays, due to me pretending to be a human being who requires sleep rather than one of those dolphins who sleep half-a-brain at a time or penguins who only pretend to be sleeping.

2. Out of our usual 48 hours, what hours are the VERY VERY BEST for you to mod?

TBH, at the moment it seems like anything OTHER than sleeping time. I don't tend to have weekend obligations.

3. Are you more comfortable with having a set, regular shift that's pretty much the same each weekend, or are you happier with a variable shift, or are you only interested in (or able to commit to) providing occasional emergency coverage?
I'm good with either having a set time or variable time. As long as we set aside a bit of time to feed the penguins, I'm cool.

4. Is there a minimum or maximum amount of time that you're comfortable modding?

Nope.

5. Is there anything else I should know about your life that has bearing on this? (for example: you're a student and your schedule goes through periodic reshuffling; you're about to move to Australia and start a new job on the night shift; you're an alien with three months left of your holiday here, after which there will be a serious time lag on your internet connection due to relativistic time compression)
I fight giraffes on my free time with my penguin army, does that count?

6. For extra credit, use 'penguin' in a sentence. Creativity counts.
Are we sentencing penguins now? Have we sunk this low? Shouldn't we go after the giraffes first? Why are we wasting our time chasing penguins when there are still giraffes out there? SHEESH.

(These are all in GMT btw)

1) I tend to sleep from about 2am to at least 10am given my choice. I also like to avoid being up too late on a Sunday if I know I have something to do early Monday morning.

2) Preferably late evening something like 8pm-12pm, just so there's less pressure posting around meals.

3) I don't really have a life, so I'm not usually in a mad flux.

4) As long as I know ~24hrs in advance, I'm fine with variable shifts.

5) I'm easy as long as I can sleep and post around meals.

6) Damn it, I've been rumbled! Yes, I am an alien but I'm in possession of a superior internet connection, so it shouldn't interfere with my galactic domination modding ;)

7) Did you know penguins are the sexual deviants of the animal kingdom. And I made a whole post about it back in January. True Story.

I am Not Ever Available during Saturday mornings, East Coast US. I am probably also not available to mod between say 2am and 8am East Coast US time on account of sleep.

I can usually, if I know in advance, swing the hours between 9pm and midnight or one AM Friday and Saturday.

Sunday late-morning-through-early afternoon, my current shift, has been fine and if that needs coverage to continue, I'm happy to stay on it. But late nights are when I actually have a brain and less distraction.

Mostly RL, mostly not mine. But yes, I can't brain penguins right now. Too busy staring in awe at the coincidental nature of the universe and how it can throw so much varying stuff at one person (not me!) in such a short period of time.

As you know, I'm still mostly happy as emergency filler mod - but more able to do longer stints if needed. (It's still better not, but okay.)

Basically, I am usually around GMTam (between 8am-1pm approx) and from 4 or 5pm till 9pm. Am not around when I'm asleep.

But, you know, whenever the penguins are biting and an emergency mod is needed.

Due to sleeping, I can't mod until 9am GMT on Saturdays, then from about 12am to 9am GMT on Sundays.

I work on alternative Saturdays and on those Saturdays I usually can't mod or take part at all (those penguins are harsh bosses!). Also, I really need the extra time in my bed on the Sunday following that, so in the winter modding before 10am GMT on those Sundays is not ideal. Summer time is fine because of BST.

I do like having more or less the same shift(s) every weekend, and really like my Sunday morning shift. It's just the right length of modding time and it fits into my schedule nicely. Same with the occasional Saturday morning shift I've done as well (obviously working around work).

1. I am not available after 11 p.m. CST on any night. I'm also not going to be typically available on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to about 8 p.m. CST (it varies, but if my family does something, I tend to join them).

2. I like modding Sunday mornings right now, from 9 a.m. CST to 12 p.m. However, Saturdays at the same time are good for me, as well as Friday nights and most of Sunday, in general. (I have no social life to speak of except for very rare occasions.)

3. Schedule is kind of set for the most part, only variable time is Saturday afternoons.

4.I like having a set shift, but I can also be available for emergency modding if another shift needs to be covered.

5. Not really.

6. Sometimes I have to work on the weekends, but I tend to know ahead of time and that normally happens in the afternoons.

Fun fact: I actually just moved to Central Time Zone (GMT -6) two weeks ago, so that's what my numbers mean.

I'm in grad school, so this may change semesterly (or during finals week), but so far:

1) 2am-8am daily is my no-no square for anything but sleeping or evacuation due to penguin arsonists.
2) Sunday mornings and Saturday late mornings/ early afternoons are my primetime.
3) I don't mind having a flexible schedule, and would probably be best suited to *cough*usurpation*cough* emergency modding.
4) I'll take anywhere up to six hours per weekend. I would prefer them in blocks of two or three hours instead of just one or like, six in a row.

I'm so excited to be a mod! XD
