This was a really great round! We had an entire parade of ninja animals to keep us on our toes and inspire crackiness. We had new faces in addition to the usual round of suspects. We celebrated

sidlj's birthday! And we wrote, revised, edited, posted, and did research. And "Research", of course.

We even have crack to show for it!

To answer JTurtle's question about the fic gallery: good question, and one I've been thinking about a lot.
There is a very, very out of date gallery for this comm, of fic written (or partly written) during various rounds of the 'Rush. It was originally maintained by the comm's founder,

studyofrunning, but she hasn't been able to keep it going in recent months. In addition, this comm has grown a great deal in the last year, and I don't think the single 'fic gallery' post is a good format for handling the massive amount of fic that has been written here!

Accordingly, I'm thinking of setting up another sister comm as a fic gallery. I'd welcome thoughts and feedback.

I'd also be interested to know where people archive their fic. I'm about to create a poll to ask that; please stand by.

Round 20 will be August 20th and 21st . . . assuming LJ is still functioning and the world has not come to an end by that time.

Mods, please let me know if you'll be able to make it that weekend -- assuming you're able to comment on this post at all! LJ is still under attack, and commenting is still even more unreliable than posting.

So let's think about Round 20. Round 19 was very lightly attended; I blame summer (except for Australia, where it's winter), and the Harry Potter movie. Hopefully, the next round will work better for more people. (But look at it this way: there were no [Poll #1764306]

Well, this was a very . . . well, it was a very timey-wimey round. Time was out of joint, and posts got made at odd hours, mostly (but not exclusively) by me. And I can't even excuse myself on jet lag grounds.

Overall, the round was quieter than usual; many of our regulars and semi-regulars weren't around, or were only around briefly. But others did write, and they carried the blazing banner of Fic-Rushiness onward into a Glorious Future!!

So post here about what you accomplished, or if you didn't get any writing done, post here anyway and say hi. Tell us what you're working on. And we'll all get together again next month and accomplish marvelous things!

Another great round! New faces and familiar ones, and lots of activity, especially in the first 24 hours. So, post here and brag about what you accomplished!

Round 18 will probably be the 18th and 19th of June. However:

One of our regular Mod Squad members,

lullabymoon, is not available in June at all. She regularly takes the shift from Sunday 9 am GMT to 1 pm GMT. Is there anyone who would like to pinch-hit?

I would especially welcome new mods -- if we have more people in the pool, the existing mods are less likely to get burned out, yaknowwhatImean?

Although the mod is often the Chief Crackmeister of the Hour, this is not actually a requirement of the position. If you're a writer not a stand-up comedian (Damn it Jim!) and you've been hesitating to offer on this account, please, hesitate no longer!

ETA: If you're interested in modding, I will ask for the following information:

- your time zone (That's a big part of how I manage the calendar)
- your general preferences and limitations (Do you work till 5 on Friday? Go to church on Sunday? On Saturday? Sleep in till noon? Get to bed by midnight? Stay up till 2 am on weekends?)
- your specific preferences (Are you always online on Sunday afternoon? Usually bored on Saturday morning?)

Unless otherwise specified, I will begin by assuming that you are not available between 1 am and 9 am in your own timezone, that you work till 5 pm on Friday, and that you do not work on Saturday or Sunday; so I really want to know if those assumptions don't hold.

Also, none of this is ever set in stone; you will never get flack from me when your availibility changes.

It's that time again! Please check all the weekends that might work for you. If you're interested in modding and don't currently have a shift, leave me details in the comments, telling me your time zone and when during the weekend you'd be available.[Poll #1742720]

Round 17 will be the first full weekend in May: May 7th and 8th.

Yes, this may seem odd: the following weekend had more votes. But that's only one of the factors that goes into the decision. I always have to look to see which weekend is the best for the largest number of people, and which weekend is the best for the moderators. Without the Mod Squad, this wouldn't happen at all; and it's very important to me that they also have the opportunity to hang out for the weekend and write, not just work their shifts.

So we'll gather round the Maypole starting at midnight GMT on Saturday the 7th and frolic merrily for 48 hours. See you then!
